There are on our planet, the sea of extraordinary beauty, attracting millions of tourists from all over the world for its clear water, beautiful corals and diverse fishes. It comes to the Red sea. This is one of the most beautiful places of our planet.
Why do they call it? No exact answer. Someone thinks that it got its name due to algae that in some months, the sea change colour from azure blue to red. And some prefer a more interesting explanation. According to the Bible, Moses led the Jews from Egypt to Israel through the Red sea. When they approached the shore – the water parted and exposing the bottom. It consisted entirely of canyons, cliffs and hollows. The path was very rugged and a lot of Jews died, bleeding to death. That’s why it was called the Red sea.
The red sea is a Gulf of the Indian ocean. It is situated in the deep depression, formed millions of years ago between the Arabian Peninsula and Africa. An area of almost 500 thousand square kilometers, with more than two thirds of the sea is located in tropical zone. The average water depth from 500 m to 1 km in the middle part of the sea is crack, as if dissecting it into two parts. There is a depth of 2.5 to 3 km. makes it different from other seas of our planetat that the Red sea is not no river flows. The Suez canal in the Northern part of the sea – the work of human hands, it is rather narrow, so the natural circulation of water occurs only in the southern part of the sea through the Bab-El-Mandeb.
This natural isolation has led to the fact that in the Red sea the most clear water. Usually the rivers carry their waters in the sea sand, debris and dirty water. But in this sea water is so clear that you can easily see the incredible beauty and diversity of “underwater life” of the red sea.
The absence of influent rivers has also led to the fact that sea has the most salty water among all seas on our planet. The salt concentration here is that to drown is almost impossible. It is well suited for those who decided to learn to swim and likes to swim far away (fatigue less than in the other seas). Continue reading
Jellyfish are attacking the Mediterranean. Biologists-marine painters, studying the waters, is known among the most numerous and diverse populations of marine fauna, are sounding the alarm. If these invertebrates will continue to proliferate at such a pace, will not stand not only marine life, but vacationers here in the summer tourists.
According to Professor Stefano Piraino of Salento University in southern Italy, all 300 (!) kilometers of the beach, which he managed to fly on April 21, swarming with jellyfish. Himself Piraino heads the project control the population of jellyfish in the Mediterranean sea. The shift of the biological balance in the waters in favor of the jellyfish is due, firstly, global warming and, secondly, is due to excessive capture of fish and other edible inhabitants. In addition to jellyfish, thousands of miles of the Mediterranean coast there is no release from tourists onlookers. These “scientists with the air of a connoisseur” and armed with smartphones and “Apple”, relentlessly chasing an umbrella. During the four years of work of specialists in the framework of the mentioned project, the population of jellyfish is only increasing. Experts attribute this phenomenon to global warming. Convince them that the data that come from other areas of the world: is there a process develops in a similar way. Piraino says that on the island of Lampedusa, where the annual resting of about three hundred thousand tourists, you can swim only week of the whole summer. The rest of the time the water is filled with jellyfish.
But that said, the biologist, studying jellyfish at the Institute of Oceanology of Barcelona Jose Maria Gili: “jellyfish have increasingly become a problem around the world, the Mediterranean is no exception. And the farther away from the shore, so they are more insidious and harder to fight them”. This spring off the coast of Valencia Catalogue and specialists of the Institute have recorded a surge of population flowing down jellyfish Pelagia noctiluca . which is one of the most poisonous members of the species. Farms (fish farm) is located 14 km North-West S. ROS district of the Moscow region. The area is characterized by the development of mostly marine sediments and high pasture. Laboratornye and ground water is hydrocarbonate-chloride-calcium type. The fish farm is located in water-ecological zone.
The economy territory with the one hand limit of the Cretaceous mountains on the other – the key and a field with perennial grasses. Land not classified as agricultural land and located in slaboperesechennoy the floodplain of streams. Much of the land occupied trees and shrubs. The ichthyofauna of small streams: common gudgeon, loach moustached, verhovka ordinary.
The Key Belogorsk meets trout brook. Ulyanovsk region to treat the area III pond fish farming, as a sufficiently favorable climatic conditions for growing heat-loving fish species. However, the temperature of the water of the fish farm does not exceed 12. 14 °C. the spring water that feeds these ponds, contains little nutrients, sludge is poor in organic substances so that they poorly developed plankton and benthos. The productivity of such reservoirs are non-nutritive.
The objects of fish farming can be fish that require low temperatures, high oxygen content in water and consuming artificial feed. Passing through the ponds, spring water lingers and warms up. In the last cascadeproef the water temperature in summer is 25. 27°S. These waters are used for cultivation of carp and sturgeon. Continue reading
