Corals and fish of the red sea
There are on our planet, the sea of extraordinary beauty, attracting millions of tourists from all over the world for its clear water, beautiful corals and diverse fishes. It comes to the Red sea. This is one of the most beautiful places of our planet.
Why do they call it? No exact answer. Someone thinks that it got its name due to algae that in some months, the sea change colour from azure blue to red. And some prefer a more interesting explanation. According to the Bible, Moses led the Jews from Egypt to Israel through the Red sea. When they approached the shore – the water parted and exposing the bottom. It consisted entirely of canyons, cliffs and hollows. The path was very rugged and a lot of Jews died, bleeding to death. That’s why it was called the Red sea.
The red sea is a Gulf of the Indian ocean. It is situated in the deep depression, formed millions of years ago between the Arabian Peninsula and Africa. An area of almost 500 thousand square kilometers, with more than two thirds of the sea is located in tropical zone. The average water depth from 500 m to 1 km in the middle part of the sea is crack, as if dissecting it into two parts. There is a depth of 2.5 to 3 km. makes it different from other seas of our planetat that the Red sea is not no river flows. The Suez canal in the Northern part of the sea – the work of human hands, it is rather narrow, so the natural circulation of water occurs only in the southern part of the sea through the Bab-El-Mandeb.
This natural isolation has led to the fact that in the Red sea the most clear water. Usually the rivers carry their waters in the sea sand, debris and dirty water. But in this sea water is so clear that you can easily see the incredible beauty and diversity of “underwater life” of the red sea.
The absence of influent rivers has also led to the fact that sea has the most salty water among all seas on our planet. The salt concentration here is that to drown is almost impossible. It is well suited for those who decided to learn to swim and likes to swim far away (fatigue less than in the other seas).
The climate in the Red sea warm. Even in the cold winter months the water temperature never drops below +20°C, and summer is always hot.
Particularly attracted the attention of the amazing beauty of the coral reefs of the red sea with scurrying among them colorful fish. Hardly any sea on earth can boast such a variety!
At sea nearly 200 species of corals, paint the bottom of the sea with different colors. Corals are living creatures, which by day hide in their houses and hunt at night to every sea change. They absorb the calcium from the water, then molded one polyp to another – and it turns out the skeleton of the coral. Here you can see the light yellow, orange, red, purple coral (list is endless!). In form, they are also very diverse: spherical, bushy or planar. But such diversity creates only living corals. Upon death, they lose their color and volume, and from them only a light skeleton. Corals grow very slowly – a little more than 1 cm per year. Can’t believe how many years it took to grow such a huge coral reef!
A very rich fauna of the red sea. It is home to over a thousand species of marine animals: dolphins, killer whales, turtles, sharks, stingrays, and even Moray eels three-meter meet; and what a variety of unusual forms and colors of tropical fish: sea cucumber, fish balls, the Sultan, Napoleon fish, angelfish and many others. And a quarter of fish species is found only in the Red sea!
The high salinity of the sea has determined that the water in the Red sea very heavy, so the fish that live here, strong, muscled and quite lean. No coincidence that the seafood from these waters are considered the most diet in the world!
Meeting with many more inhabitants of the waters are dangerous to humans, therefore, being in the water, you need to keep your eyes open! Pose a threat to swimmer morays that frighten many of his open mouth ( though it Moray breathes, and tries not to intimidate you). Usually fish pressed his body to the corals and completely harmless, but when people first approach her, she will attack defending their homes.
And, of course, we must beware of sharks. A lot of them here – and recently we have seen numerous cases of attacks by these predators on tourists.
Stay on the Red sea in the last years incredibly popular. Millions of tourists and divers from around the world eager to get to the resorts of Egypt and Israel, located on the red sea coast.
In addition to underwater exploring with scuba diving, a huge number of people are attracted by the fishing. You can catch a fishing rod and spinning; at many resorts even hold fishing derbies. You can “go” and for spearfishing, but it is allowed in places where there is no coral (in all the coastal States coral reefs are protected by law).
Attracts Red sea and the adventurers seeking the treasures of sunken ships. The fact is that in the waters of its Northern part is a lot of boats and even huge ships. They all went to the bottom, got a hole in wars or bumping into coral reefs.
Famous for the sea and its tides. During low tide the water from the shore out almost in human growth, opening views to the ground with its inhabitants.
Red sea –the most beautiful on the planet, but unfortunately, in recent times it is actively being polluted. Garbage is thrown not only vacationers on the coast, but cleared of boats and boats. It is clear that the water loses its transparency and reduced populations of corals and fishes. I’d like to believe that people will come to their senses and preserve for posterity this magnificent sea!
